London Sketchfest has been busy scouting the country for the best new and undiscovered writer-performers in comedy – sketch groups and comedy acts that stand out as some of the top new talent coming into play for 2015.
The 12 competing acts, chosen as the best emerging talent in sketch comedy, will perform in 3 shows across 3 days in front of audiences and a panel of industry judges who will score each act, deciding upon a winner who will be awarded Best New Act 2015.
An annual showcase of the best of British sketch comedy, London SketchFest’s Best New Act Competition helps to discover exciting breakthrough acts each year. Previous winners such as The Pin and Gein’s Family Giftshop have gone on to win numerous awards and recognition, putting them firmly in the spotlight.
Judges for the 2015 Best New Act Competition are:
Kate Copstick, The Scotsman chief comedy reviewer
Mark Monahan, The Telegraph comedy editor
Sara Shulman, Comedy Blogedy editor
Alex Hardy, The Times TV and comedy critic
Sharon Lougher, The Metro TV and comedy critic
Highlighting British sketch comedy as one of the most exciting areas in comedy currently, the showcase sees the best up-and-coming troupes gather to perform their best material in a professional and theatrical space, giving sketch comedy the attention it deserves.
With two massively successful years championing British sketch comedy, we’re really excited to see this third year come together bringing another wave of great new acts. We feel each act has distinguished themselves, either by skill, merit or perseverance and we’re excited to see what the judges think.
